Yesterday we had my cousin Gise´s baby shower. She lives in Texas but because we are Latin and us Venezuelans have the hardest time leaving home, my aunt decided to throw her a baby shower were she would attend via facetime! We were supposed to be there at three, but this time things did not fall into place as this past week, and we were running late. When we are late, this household is complete chaos. Ale wanted help figuring out what to wear, and that meant like 100 different outfit possibilities, Emi wanted me to braid her hair, Ari decided she wanted to wear tight shoes... And of course I needed to get dressed too, but apparently that was only important to me. In between our bickering we managed to get ourselves in the car, and my plan was that once in the car I would do a quick fix to my chipped nails.. then I realized that we hadn´t fed the dogs (Gabriel always does this but he was at his company´s Christmas party) That meant more yelling... Ale called me a ¨diva¨ because I was not moving because of my nails... So as you can see, this was not a very blogable moment, or is it?
Life is not perfect, I am not perfect, nor are my children, and believe me...we are not trying to be perfect. We yell, we holler, we scream, we get frustrated... sometimes we hurt somebody along the way, we make mistakes, we get mad for the wrong reasons. And it would be a big fat lie if I said that we will try not to loose control ever again, because we will fight, and snap, and loose our temper many more times in our lives. But I promise myself, gabriel, and my chidren that we will always ask for forgiveness, and forgive each other. And if we fight loud, then we will make up louder, we will hug harder, and kiss longer and we will say am sorry. That is the beauty of life, of family, of love....!!! There is no shame in fighting as long as we never forget that even though we are fighting that person standing there is someone that we love, that we respect, that loves us so much that is able to stand there and put up with us for no other reason than love. And then, I know we are all right when we are able to look back and laugh at our imperfections!
And because the sun shines after it rains.... this morning we were in no hurry to go anywhere, so we decided to clean the fountain in our garden...
Sang some aguinaldos (Christmas carols) and lit the third Advent candle.
and remember yesterday´s afternoon at my aunt´s
I made this little paper diapers so that everyone there could send Matteo a little note of love!
So remember.... if you fight, go kiss and make up! Have a great week!
